Hearing the respect-earning voice and the elaborate style of Aalaap and reading the life sketch I am very much shocked to find the tormenting end of such a blessed music personality of Bengal.

I have heard the best in classical music e.g. Kesharbai Kerkar, Ustad Amir Khan, Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan and Pt Bhimsen Joshi and the rest of todays greats. Monibabu's Alaap is second to none in my humble opinion. Visit: www.surtarang.co.uk to learn about my background. We should be proud of Monibabu although he suffered humiliation at the hands of those who should have known better.God bless his soul.

This website is a great creation for a great artiste who was lost in the pages of time and one of the un-noticed jewels of Classical music. Yes the agra gharana is not commercialised & the renditions are really melodius and reminds one to the majesty this gharana brought out amongst its gifted disciples. Moni Babu s memoirs are really from his heart and the difficulties of those times have been so ruthless for artistes to pursue art as a profession. I hope at least in today's world this changes. Great effort in chronicling his works.
